Patients Choice Laboratories was founded by healthcare providers and professionals in 2013.   PCL™ founders have over 60 years of laboratory and healthcare experience. The Laboratory Director is a licensed pathologist, who is board-certified both with American Board of BioAnalysis and American Society of Clinical Pathology.  The scientists responsible for performing the test methodology meet and exceed the levels of education and experience required by COLA and CLIA to perform high-complexity testing. Testing methods utilized are supported, verified and provide high confidence is consistency and accuracy. All tests are reviewed and approved prior to release and patient confidentiality is monitored and maintained 24 hours a day.

Brad Moss | President

Brad2Brad Moss serves as President of Patients Choice Laboratories. A veteran of the healthcare industry, Moss brings in excess of fifteen years’ experience to Patients Choice Laboratories. With the honor of serving as President and responsible for overseeing business development, health economics, strategic partnerships, and related activities within the company, Moss brings innovative leadership and growth expertise to his position.

Prior to Patients Choice Laboratories, Moss served as the Chief Business Officer for SeKayi Management, a $10M healthcare management organization. While at SeKayi, Moss oversaw three subsidiaries that managed over 500,000 patients in four states. Before SeKayi, Moss served as National Director of Sales for DailyMed Pharmacy, a subsidiary Arcadia Resources, Inc., (NYSE Amex: KAD), a ~$100M healthcare provider. While at Arcadia, Moss led corporate sales for DailyMed, a comprehensive Medication Therapy Management and medication adherence program.
Having received his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1996, Moss completed his MBA in 2008, with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of Illinois.

Trevor Eagleson | CFO

TrevorTrevor Eagleson, Chief Financial Officer, is focused on the financial activities of the laboratory including financial planning and analysis, controllership, internal audit, tax, treasury and risk management. Mr. Eagleson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University Bloomington.  Previously he was with BrightPoint, Inc. (formerly NASDAQ:CELL, now a subsidiary of Ingram Micro:IM), a leader and innovator in technology and supply chain services. He started his career with the public accounting firm, Ernst & Young, where he progressed from Staff Auditor to Senior Manager in the Entrepreneurial Services Group. Mr. Eagleson is also co-owner and Chief Financial Officer of ACE Game Room Gallery.

Sheetal Patel | Laboratory Manager

SheetalPatel2fSheetal has 10 years of experience as a Medical Technologist and expert level of knowledge in laboratory QA/QC, Proficiency Testing and regulatory requirements. She received her BS in Biology from IU, Bloomington In 2005 and received certification from the ASCP in 2009. She began her career at the South Bend Medical Foundation as a support technician, then transitioned into the role of Point of Care Testing Coordinator at Memorial Hospital of South Bend where she oversaw the maintenance of over 40 POC instruments. She then moved to DCL Medical laboratories of Indianapolis where she served on the safety committee and led the internal CAP team for Chemistry and Immunology. Following the acquisition of DCL by LabCorp, she served Mid America Clinical Laboratories as a Medical Technologist specialist in the new immunology department. At PCL Indianapolis, Sheetal oversees the day to day internal aspects of the lab and the mass spectrometry operations. Sheetal brings her exacting quality control standards and fervor for new technologies that benefit patients to the PCL Indianapolis staff.

Kathy Braniff, MBA, MT (ASCP) | Technical Supervisor

Kathy has worked in the clinical laboratory field since 1979. She received her medical technologist training from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Medical Technology in Dayton, OH and her Bachelor of Science Degree from The College of Mount Saint Joseph in Cincinnati, OH in 1980. Her master’s degree was earned from the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame in 1998. A majority of her professional career was spent working at the South Bend Medical Foundation in South Bend, Indiana where she rose to assume the role of Manager of Laboratory Services at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Her laboratory management career has continued with hospital based leadership opportunities and consultant roles through Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Honolulu HI, Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas; Dunn Memorial Hospital, Bedford, IN; DCL Medical Laboratories of Indianapolis, Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) and Mid America Clinical Laboratories. Kathy brings a wealth of knowledge regarding Regulatory Compliance, Lean Six Sigma, Leadership Focusing on Employee Empowerment and Rewards and Accreditation Inspections.

Stephen Barlow, MD | Medical Director

Dr. Barlow has over 30 years of experience as both a clinical and anatomic pathologist. He is a lifelong resident of Indiana, graduating from Bedford High School and receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Indiana University Bloomington in 1971. He received his MD at the Indiana School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 1975, then moved to an internship at St Vincent Hospital. He ultimately culminated his board certification in both clinical and anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology in 1983 (until present). During his professional career, Dr. Barlow has served over 20 years as a Laboratory Director and Pathologist at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Indiana and other Medical Directorships at Bedford Regional Medical Center/IU Hospital, Winona Memorial Hospital, Monroe Hospital Laboratory and St. Vincent Dunn Hospital laboratories. Dr. Barlow has been an active member of the medical community and also a civic leader in Indiana.


Zhijing Huang, PhD | Molecular Technology

Zhijing Huang joined Patients Choice Laboratories after receiving her PH.D. in Microbiology from Indiana University in Bloomington.  Her research is focused on the host response of viral infections.

Dr. Huang has published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented her study from IU and PCL at national and international conferences.  At Patients Choice, she is now working on the development of LDTs and implementation of new technologies to expand the test menu of the Molecular Department.

Safedin (Sajo) Beqaj, PhD, HCLD, CC (ABB) | Laboratory Director and Clinical Consultant

Dr. Sajo Beqaj is board certified in molecular diagnostics and licensed as a Bioanalyst and High Complexity Laboratory Director. He has been practicing as a laboratory director since 2005.

Prior to PCL, he served from 2011-2016 as a technical director and principal investigator at Pathology, Inc. Torrance, California. During this time, Dr. Beqaj was responsible for building a successful and efficient clinical laboratory that was later acquired by LabCorp. From 2008-2011 he served as Laboratory Director for Clinical Pathology at DCL Medical Laboratories, Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was responsible for clinical technical operations including development and implementation of new tests and technologies. He held the position of Laboratory Director in molecular diagnostics for Path Group Labs, Nashville, Tennessee from 2005-2008. Prior to his clinical experience, he was a Research Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois until 2005.

Dr. Baqaj received his Ph.D. in Pathology from Wayne State University Medical School, Detroit, Michigan. He performed his post-doctoral fellowship at Abbott Laboratories from 2001-2003.

Dr. Beqaj has taught in several academic institutions and has published numerous medical textbook chapters and journal articles. He has conducted clinical trials for several well-known pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies, and has presented various scientific clinical abstracts and presentations. He is a member of several medical and scientific associations including the Association of Molecular Pathology, American Association of Clinical Chemistry and the Pan Am Society for Clinical Virology. He has served on a number of clinical laboratory regulatory and scientific committees, and has assisted several laboratories and physicians as a Clinical Laboratory Consultant.
